We have had people staying who have been doing a walk for charity along the Canal from Devizes and ending in Reading. They did it over a long weekend. (We had offered to pick them up if they found themselves too tired to walk any further at any point near a road!!) Bless them, they managed to get to Hungerford to do a quick shopping for supplies, before ringing us!!!

We have also had people staying who have brought their bikes on the back of their car. Cycled from here to Newbury along the canal, had lunch in Newbury and then caught the train back to Hungerford. The weather had been awful but they had managed to miss the heavy down pours and enjoyed their day.

Hop on a train from Paddington. If you want to make the most of the weekend arriving late after work, we can arrange to pick you up from Hungerford train station 2miles away. We have a bike rack!!!

The Kennet and Avon canal is convenient for the main line railway stations at Reading, Thatcham, Newbury, Hungerford, Great Bedwyn, Pewsey, Trowbridge, Bath and Bristol (Temple Meads).

Remember, our breakfast room has a fridge for your convenience. If there is anything that we can help you out with we will. Maybe you think you are going to arrive too late or too tired to pop to the shops then simply let us know what you would like us to get for you!! We will keep the receipt so that you can reimburse us, some things we may already have in!!

We also have picnic rucksacks that you can hire for the day! Complete with tablecloths and napkins etc!! Insulated too. Room for a bottle of water, wine or a flask . Not sure how much to charge for them yet but it will be a sensible fair price. May have to take a returnable deposit in case of loss! Still thinking on it, your suggestions would be very welcome on this matter!!
